(easy) dog biscuitsThursday, January 16, 2014
for the longest time, basically since we got Cooper, I've wanted to try my hand at making dog biscuits. I set out to find a recipe over a year ago - Pinterest was my first stop (duh). And yes, I did find plenty of dog biscuit recipes, but a lot of them either had way too many ingredients or ingredients that I had never heard of.
If there's something you should know about me, it's that I hate wandering around in the grocery store, trying to find an ingredient. If I can't find something when I'm there, I Google "What aisle is ...... in?" If I can't find the Google answer, then I just forget it and either make the meal without that ingredient or completely skip the meal altogether.
It's life or death situation, people.
So, while I was mindlessly browsing Pinterest this week, I stumbled up the PERFECT dog biscuit recipe. It was perfect because it only had two ingredients, one of which I already had. The other ingredient was....BABY FOOD. Which is perfect, because Cooper is my freakin' baby!!!!!!!
I set out to go buy the baby food at Target. Granted, I didn't find the baby food as quickly as I thought I would (doesn't it make sense that the baby food should be in the market part of the store...not where the baby clothes and supplies are??).
The recipe is as follows:
2 cups flours
2 (4 oz) baby food jars (I used sweet potato)
Shredded Carrots for the topping (my idea)
Mix the flour and baby food together.
Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4"-1/2" thick.
Top with shredded carrot pieces (I rolled over the dough again to push the carrots into the dough so they would stick)
Cut mini bars with a pizza cutter.Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.
