Morning walks with Silas

I started taking daily walks when we lived in Alabama.  Back then they were with Cooper.  After Alabama we moved to California where I continued my walks with Cooper.  They were a bit more boring because we lived out in the desert and there wasn't much to see.

When we moved to Pennsylvania I thought that maybe my daily walks were done for because on my first day out with Cooper the hills were almost too much for me!

Apparently I got over the hills (both metaphorically and literally) because once the weather warmed up after Silas was born I started up my walks again.  Silas loves riding in the stroller.

Usually we take our Jeep Liberty stroller when we go on our walks, but on this particular day the Jeep was packed up in our trunk and I didn't feel like getting it out.  So the BOB it was.  The nice thing about the BOB stroller is that it's a very light and smooth ride.  Also the front wheel is locked, so if you decide to run with the stroller it won't be bouncing and turning everywhere.

I always take my water bottle with me.  My goal is to drink the entire bottle before I'm back inside the house after our walk.  We typically walk 2 miles, so that means after every 1/2 mile I drink 8 ounces of water.  When I first started doing this 8 ounces felt like so much, but now it's hardly anything at all to me.

Unfortunately Cooper can't come with us on our walks because he weighs about 75 lbs and if he were to see another dog, he'd drag me and the stroller with him to go visit them.  So I usually put him on the backyard lead to hang out and enjoy the cool morning weather before the hot sun is out.

Lately I've started bring my phone along to listen to music on it while we walk.  We walk along a busy road, so it's nice to have someone drown out the sound of the traffic.

9 times out of 10, Silas is usually zonked out before we finish the two miles.  Not only do we manage to do something to get out of the house and stay healthy, but we also get a nap in there too.  Not bad if you ask me!
