Road Trip (Atlanta, GA)

By Joy

We went on a road trip last week!  It was rather last minute and resulted from me asking Mr. Pribs when we were planning on getting a desk for our office – we had been saving up for a few months and I had been using a card table as my desk.  After looking at the IKEA website and seeing that our favorite desk was back in stock, Mr. Pribs declared that we would get the desk the next day in Atlanta, GA!

The next morning, bright and early, we packed up and left on our road trip to Georgia.  It’s about a 3 hour drive to Atlanta from where we live.

We’re moving!

By Joy

We’re moving a whopping 30 minutes from where we live right now!  Why?  Because Mr. Pribs is going to learn how to fly an airplane and he’s going to learn at the airport that is 30 minutes from home.  And we both agreed that the idea of him driving 30 minutes there/back everyday for work didn’t sound very appealing.  Yes, I did it for 4 weeks when I was taking the CNA course, and yes, I survived, but only barely.

March: Life Update.

By Joy

It’s been a little over a month since my last life update.  A lot has happened, but at the same time, not much has changed.

In the last update I basically stated that “WE DON’T KNOW WHERE WE ARE GOING IN LIFE, BUT THAT’S OKAY.”  We pretty much are in the same boat.  Rob, supposedly, will be graduating from flight school on April 18th.  That is IF he doesn’t get any delays.  In other words, as long as the skies are clear and he keeps passing his tests, then he will graduate on time.  Last week we had a few rainy days and Rob didn’t get to fly on one of the days, but I don’t think that will affect the graduation date as this past week they doubled up on flying time.

I have started my CNA class and it is….good.  I actually had my midterm last Friday.  My only complaint about the midterm is that the teacher waited until 5 minutes before the test to inform us that if we get below an 86% on the test, then we fail.  WHAT?!  In our class of 18 students, 5 people ended up failing the test.  NO WORRIES, I was not one of them.  Now we have two more weeks left of class – our final is this Friday and then next week we have clinicals and the following Friday is our graduation.  If and when I graduate, I can then sign up to take the state exam in April to become certified.  I’m already submitting applications to find a job.

Speaking of jobs…Rob had a possible prospect come up in late January/early February.  Without giving any details, things are looking good.  With that encouragement, I decided to give housing in California another look online and I found an apartment complex in the general area that we’re looking to live that allows you to have large breed dogs – so, that was nice to see.  If you didn’t know, trying to find an apartment to live in when you have a large breed dog can be difficult.  As soon as we can, we are definitely living in a house.

All that being said, who knows where we’ll be 7 months from now.  Rob could get deployed, his job prospects could fall through, I could find a job here to hold us over for a while, everything could work out as predicted.  Anything could happen.  My only intention in writing these posts is to keep everyone updated on where we are…..not to make promises.  So, if something different happens, don’t all e-mail me and call me and say “I thought you said…..blah blah blah”, because I’m not the one in charge.  All I know is that right now, things are good.  Rob is ready to graduate, I am ready to be certified and Cooper is loving life as usual.

Flight School & Life Update

By Joy

Rob has officially started the Blackhawks portion of flight school.  He was in simulators for a little over a week (which, by the way, I flew a simulator by myself last Friday as part of Aviation Spouse day).  As of yesterday (Monday) though, he is flying the real deal!  There was a little doubt in the morning as to whether or not he would get to fly, with the weather being so dreary, but luckily he did!  Right now, he goes in around 9:00am and is supposed to get home around 6:00pm.  Last night he got home around 8pm.  Fortunately we live right near the Blackhawk airfield.  You turn right out of our neighborhood, drive a mile or so and then turn left and you will see the airfield as you drive up to the stop sign.

I don’t know if the above helicopter is the exact model that Rob is flying.  I simply googled UH-60 Blackhawk and chose the coolest picture that came up.

Etsy Shop: Update

By Joy

I’ve added a few more digital designs to my Etsy shop!  My digital save the dates have been popular ever since I added them over the summer, so I’ve decided to branch out and start making baby shower and birthday invitations.  I’ve created some of those along with more save-the-date designs.

Enjoy!
